Planning for your senior portrait session can be both exciting and overwhelming. One of the most important aspects of ensuring your photos turn out great is choosing the right outfits that reflect who you are. Whether you prefer a classic, trendy, or edgy look, select outfits that represent your own personal style.

Here are some tips on what to wear for your senior phots to help you look your best and feel confident in front of the camera.

Select Three Outfits

Dressy Look, pick the dress that makes you feel beautiful. Long, flowy dresses and skirts look amazing on camera. They bring extra movement to the photos, and really flatter the female body.

Casual Look, an outfit that is unique to your style, hobbies, or personality. Something you would typically wear on daily basis.

Trendy Look, such as a 2-piece pantsuit with a cropped top, a romper, high waisted trousers or 90s vibes.

Accessories Matter

Accessories can enhance your outfit and add a personal touch to your senior portraits. Consider wearing a stylish hat, or a scarf that complements your outfit. Accessories are a great way to add variety to your photos, allowing you to get multiple looks without having to change clothes However, avoid over-accessorizing, as it can distract from the overall look.

 Layering and Textures

Adding layers and textures to your outfit can create depth and interest in your photos. Consider pairing a jacket with a flowy dress, or a cozy sweater over a cute tope.

Footwear Choices

Choose shoes that match your outfit and are appropriate for the location of your photoshoot. For outdoor shoots, consider stylish boots or comfortable flats. For a more formal look, classic heels or dress shoes work well.

Hair and Makeup

Natural, polished hair and makeup will enhance your features and make you feel confident. Consider scheduling a professional hair and makeup session to ensure you look your best. If you prefer doing it yourself, keep it simple and accentuate your natural beauty.

Coordinate with Backgrounds and Determine your color schemes.

Think about the locations of your photoshoot and choose outfits that complement the surroundings.

Neutral colors /Earth tons always photograph beautifully, white, grey, ivory and shades of khaki or brown can be so powerful in your portraits.

Pastel or muted colors are great for spring/summer sessions.

Vibrant colors are great for summertime, fall and winter. But be careful! Neon colors produce color-cast on skin and don’t photograph well. If you pick a vibrant color, choose a darker VS brighter tones.

Finally, remember to enjoy yourself during your photoshoot. This is a special time in your life, and you deserve to celebrate it. Laugh, smile, have fun and let the photographer to do the rest.
